Kanye West’s next move is impossible to predict. From interrupting Taylor Swift’s VMAs acceptance speech to plotting to build a dream city in the Middle East, he certainly keeps everyone on their toes.
The controversial rapper appeared to channel his inner Bond villain with a unique new style.
The 46-year-old rapper turned heads when he took to his Instagram Story Wednesday to show off new metallic dentures, which are worth a hefty $850,000. His vision for designing unique art transcends dental progression.
The marriage of his vision with dental science has created an epic new look!” said Dr. Thomas Connelly, who fitted the dentures.
In a subsequent post, West compared his new appearance to that of James Bond villain Jaws, who had a metal mouth. The villain appeared in 1977’s “The Spy Who Loved Me” and 1979’s “Moonraker.”
According to reports, Dr. Thomas Connelly, the self-proclaimed “Father of Diamond Dentistry,” and cosmetic dentist Naoki Hayashi extracted West’s teeth and replaced them with custom-made titanium dentures.
However, Connelly denied West’s natural teeth had been removed, telling Complex, “He did not have his teeth removed. He still has a full dentition.”
“The technical term is fixed prosthodontics. They are fixed and permanent. ” This goes far beyond veneers and grills,” the source explained. “It is unlike anything we have done before. It’s experimental dentistry, to say the least. Ye designed it with the help of a world-class team of dentists and cosmetic surgeons, while Dr. C manufactured and fitted it.”
It is not confirmed, but Connelly reshared West’s denture reveal on his own Instagram Story and raved about the new look.
The Donda artist’s new look comes just over a week after a Los Angeles man sued Kanye for allegedly punching him while asking for his autograph.
According to court records, Justin Poplawski and his wife, Tiffany Marshall, sued the rapper, accusing him of assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and loss of consortium.
Poplawski, a “well-respected autograph dealer,” told The Blast that on Jan. 13, 2022, in downtown Los Angeles, West hit him after asking for a signature while shouting, “I am going to make a f—ing example out of you.”
Kanye has previously reconfigured his teeth for a high-art installation. Back in 2010, he spoke to Ellen DeGeneres about his “diamond teeth.”
In response to the new look, fans flocked to Twitter/X and made their feelings known. Many users called the rapper “chompers” and “Vampire Kanye.” Others expressed their sheer confusion. “I can’t believe this is a real headline,” wrote one fan.
“Why does it look like he just wrapped gum wrap around his teeth like we used to do as kids?” another joked.
